It is most important that you have at least 10 minutes at each end of the day to discuss the day. As a parent you absolutely do not want to be in the dark as to what your child does on a day-to-day basis. You need to discuss nutrition, stimulating activities, play dates and emotional issues that may crop up. You also as a parent need to inform the nanny about anything different that may have occurred during the night or the weekend that just passed, any plans you have made for the week ahead, any specific homework projects that need to be addressed or play-dates that may have been arranged. This routine between you and your nanny needs to be effective, so you can be secure in your workplace knowing your children are happy and safe with your nanny.
